Helicopter Crash Incident: A joyous wedding celebration turned into a tragedy in the United States when a groom of Indian descent lost his life in a helicopter crash while heading to his honeymoon. The bride was trapped in the wreckage for several hours. This unfortunate event took place in Georgia, where the groom, who was also the pilot, met with the accident. Following their wedding reception, the couple boarded a Robinson R66 helicopter, which was en route to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, the second busiest airport in Georgia.
Details of the Incident
The happiness of 26-year-old Dave, who was of Indian origin, was overshadowed as he and his wife were traveling to their honeymoon right after their wedding in Fiji. Dave was a pilot for Delta Airlines and hailed from a family originally from Kerala. Reports indicate that the Robinson R66 helicopter they were on crashed near Dawsonville, close to their wedding venue. His wife, Jesny, a nurse by profession, survived the incident. According to reports, she is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Atlanta and is showing signs of recovery.
Dave's father, George Fiji, shared with Atlanta News First, “My son was very happy.” He mentioned that Dave had married Jesny on Friday. The couple had met nearly a decade ago at the New Testament Church. Their wedding, held at The Rivere in Dawsonville, was attended by around 400 guests.
George Fiji also noted that it took authorities a significant amount of time to locate the helicopter after the crash. During this period, the bride, Jesny, who sustained injuries and cuts, was trapped in the wreckage for nearly six hours before rescue teams were able to reach her.
