T20 World Cup 2026 Venue Announcement

T20 World Cup 2026 Venue: The countdown for the T20 World Cup 2026 has begun, with just about four months remaining. India and Sri Lanka will jointly host this prestigious tournament. However, the official announcement regarding the venues is still pending, and the ICC is expected to reveal the schedule soon. It is anticipated that matches will take place in five major Indian cities, with the final likely to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

According to reports, a recent meeting among top BCCI officials concluded that the T20 World Cup 2026 will feature fewer host cities compared to the 2023 ODI World Cup, with each venue expected to host at least six matches. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has been selected to host the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. As per reports, the BCCI has shortlisted Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai as potential venues. Additionally, three stadiums in Sri Lanka are expected to host matches, although the specific locations have not yet been confirmed.

Further reports indicate uncertainty regarding whether Bengaluru and Lucknow will be included as host cities, given that India and Sri Lanka are co-hosting the tournament. The BCCI has already decided that venues used for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup will not be selected for the men’s tournament. Cities like Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Indore, and Navi Mumbai hosted matches during the Women’s ODI World Cup.

Meanwhile, the ICC has made it clear to the BCCI that if Sri Lanka qualifies for the semifinals, the matches will be held in Colombo. Additionally, if Pakistan reaches the finals, that match will take place at a neutral venue. The Indian board has reiterated that matches between India and Pakistan will be held in Colombo as per previous agreements.
