LaGuardia Airport Collision Incident


LaGuardia Airport, New York: On Monday, an Air Canada Express regional aircraft collided with a ground vehicle while landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York. This incident led to a temporary halt in flight operations, with a complete ground stop imposed on all flights.


The aircraft, arriving from Montreal, was a CRJ-900 model that struck a fire truck on runway 4 during its landing approach.


The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the incident, stating that the airport was closed following the collision between the aircraft and the emergency vehicle, resulting in a ground stop for all flights.


Audio and video footage of the incident has gone viral, revealing that Air Traffic Control had instructed both the flight crew and the ground vehicle to halt just moments before the collision occurred.


According to reports from the New York Fire Department, at least five firefighters sustained serious injuries, and there are also reports of injuries among the more than 100 passengers aboard the aircraft.


Emergency response teams, including the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) unit, are currently on-site. Initial reports indicate that some of the injured individuals are in critical condition, although officials have yet to release final figures.
