On Saturday, Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai expressed admiration for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during an event at the Allahabad High Court. He remarked that the land of Allahabad is known for its powerful individuals, highlighting CM Yogi's influential status.
CJI Gavai noted that the Union Minister of Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, referred to Yogi Adityanath as the most powerful and diligent Chief Minister in the country. He reiterated that Allahabad is indeed a land of powerful figures, emphasizing CM Yogi's prominence.
CJI's Remarks on the Constitution
During his address, CJI Gavai reflected on the formation of the Constitution, recalling that when the final draft was presented to the Constituent Assembly, opinions varied on whether it was federal or unitary. He quoted Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who stated that the Constitution is neither entirely unitary nor completely federal.

The Role of the Constitution in National Unity
CJI Gavai emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar believed the Constitution would maintain national unity. He pointed out that as India celebrates 75 years of progress, the nation has remained united during crises, attributing this unity to the strength of the Indian Constitution.
